Australia is about to have some disturbing new data laws passed and a US frat has the perfect response to being asked to take the US flag down from their property. It's the day after the IPA's 75th Anniversary Dinner and James and Pete are recovering. We talk about all the fun IPA staff and members had at the dinner then move on to the less-fun Victorian election and how the average rate of personal income tax about to reach 20% in Australia. Despite the instability, the federal government has already passed 1,106 more pages of legislation than they did last year. The sharing economy will suffer if Daniel Andrews wins the Victorian election and a report out of the United States shows just how much damage to the economy is done by occupational licensing. The EU is thinking about getting its own army and everyone is mad at Kanye and Kim for using private firefighters. James and Pete talk to Year 10 student Luc Cazenave about doing work experience with the IPA, how he came to learn about liberty and what the effects of the intellectual dark web are on high school students (16:55-29:33). James and Pete talk to IPA Research Fellow Daniel Wild about his trip to the US with the Atlas Network, organisations he met that help spread liberty in China and Egypt, what US think tanks are making of the state of liberty in America and internationally and what he made of the midterm elections (16:52-33:46).
